Courmayeur—Menton French and Italian Alps
Advanced
From the Aosta Valley to the French Riviera: Over character-defining climbs of the French and Italian Alps.
Since seeing photos of the Torino-Nice Rally, I knew I would someday experience the peace and solitude of these remote areas for myself — senza rough stuff. As a road cyclist at heart — with an affection for the niceties — here’s the road-bike-friendly version from the ski slopes to the seaside. After all, memories are always best when shared.

What Past Guests Say
High Altitude Roads of the French-Italian Border
Roughly six hundred winding kilometers from Aosta Valley to the Côte d'Azur connect the peaks and valleys of the Western Alps with the highest summit at 2760 meters. Tracing former military roads and Grand Tour cols of eras passed, you're surrounded by solitary landscapes and architectural structures drenched with history. Climbs like Colle d'Esischie are now too narrow for modern pro cycling caravans and their col-hunting posses but remain unspoiled for those looking to get off the beaten track.
Expansive Views and Varied Terrain
You're here because you like to explore or are looking to go further — for the challenge and whatever the journey brings. We'd never advocate anyone heading out to the mountaintops unprepared (or alone). With the right equipment and measured effort, you, too, might capture an adventure you'll always cherish.
So how about you bring your fun-loving spirit and we'll handle the sound planning, spare tools, food and access to suitable clothing?
The Allure of the Maritime Alps
From renowned ski towns to Riviera glitterati to military fortifications, the French-Italian border treads a fine line between human brilliance and insanity. At the end of the day, nobody likes a bore so why not participate rather than spectate? To simply do nothing dominates our psyche, but I assure you, saying “yes” to something special is far better.
